Actions geared towards community building, intended to stimulate
cross-disciplinary approaches and a more effective user/supplier dialogue, and
other measures, including field validation and standards, aimed at a faster
uptake of research results. Usability and technology assessment studies,
economic analyses and roadmaps to chart the democratization of personal and
community based multimedia production and management tools.
Semantic foundations: probabilistic, temporal and modal modelling and
approximate reasoning through objective-driven research moving beyond current
formalisms. Theoretical results will be matched by robust and scalable
reference implementations.

Sujet:
Advanced authoring environments for the creation of novel forms of interactive
and expressive content enabling multimodal experimentation and non-linear
story-telling.
These environments will ease content sharing and remixing, also by non-expert
users, by automatically tagging content with semantic metadata and by using
open standards to store it in networked repositories supporting symbolic and
similarity-based indexing and search capabilities, for all content types.
Longer term:
Advanced knowledge management systems for information-bound organisations and
communities, capable of extracting actionable meaning from structured and
unstructured information and social interaction patterns, and of making it
available for activities ranging from information search through conceptual
mapping to decision making. Such systems will exploit semantics embedded in
multimedia objects, data streams and ICTbased processes, and rely on formal
policies to manage user access as well as audit trails in support of dynamic
virtual organisations.
Research advances will be embedded within end-to-end systems using
computer-tractable knowledge in support of dynamic data and application
integration, automation and interoperation of business processes, automated
diagnosis and problem-solving in a variety of domains. Robustness, scalability
and flexibility will be tested in real-life settings, together with
interworking with legacy systems.

The constant increase of mobile devices diffusion is leading to a complex
scenario where users with different profiles access a service from different
devices, bandwidth and in different contexts. The development of services and
interfaces in such scenario has become a difficult task, as it has to take
care
of many variables, such as context, user profile, device profile and
bandwidth.
The use of semantics to enhance mobile devices profiling has been so far
proposed as a theoretical approach, but so far there is no reference solution
available. In this project, we propose a solution for multi-device,
context-aware content provisioning.

The long term aims are to improve the skills and competence of people by the
integration of new computer supported educational platforms specially designed
for specific environments and requirements into the training and educational
process. The paradigm and metatool will enable to build educational and
training environments, supporting and developing innovative pedagogical
approaches and curricula, accelerate e-Learning and lifelong learning,
encourage the development of teaching and learning materials, and building of
virtual learning environments. As a result the quality, user friendliness and
accessibility of training and educational processes will be significantly
improved.

L’université italienne de Bologne recherche des partenaires pour un:

Nom provisoire du projet: European Advanced System for everYday Life
Application
of legal-knoWledge (EASYLAW)

Date de clôture: 08/04/2008

Sujet:
The aim of the project is to develop an innovative tool which will combine
different legal texts (laws, decisions, interpretations, etc.) - both on
"traditional" web and semantic web - and will produce a personalised result
based on user's queries, enabling dynamic user, context and device adaptation.
The "final" result will be an advanced aggregation of the relevant texts. This
system will be even more innovative because it will to avoid copyright
violations and ensure data protection. In fact, it will show directly to the
user authorised content (e.g., texts released under Creative Commons license,
etc.) and it will link content that cannot be shared under its specific use
license. The project will reduce costs of legal advices and litigations and
will offer new ways to understand laws and regulations, thus offering to EU
citizens a faster way to access legal norms and be aware of how they should be
applied. This system may also be a framework for future evolutions, thanks to
its support for semantic web technologies.
