Sujet:
Our aim is to design and implement a framework that will allow the user to
model the system including the interdependencies between subsystems and by
means of simulation and assessment methods to evaluate the risk associated
to a
system, giving the possibility to identify the security and safety risk level
of each subsystem constituting the system. This will also allow the user to
evaluate the efficiency of applied countermeasures by means of simulating the
behavior of the new system configuration. 

Présentation de la proposition:
Interdependencies among systems, applications, networks and services, both
inside the ICT domain and between ICT and other sectors (e.g. Transport), are
complex to be understood. Embedded Systems safety and security risks always
change due to new threats, interdependencies and possible scenarios. Embedded
systems have good emergency mechanisms but not always are evaluated in complex
scenarios and taking into account dependencies with other embedded system
capabilities. Thus the aim of the project is to define and develop
Methodologies and Tools for simulation based safety and security Risk
Assessment of Embedded Systems interdependencies. Tools will be divided into
two main categories: Framework and Simulation & Risk Assessment environment.
The Framework will provide instruments to model interdependencies among
embedded systems, services, networks and application using a common taxonomy.
The simulation & risk assessment environment will permit the user to simulate
disasters and threats, to evaluate the safety and security risk using
objective
metrics and to analyse the impact of an embedded system problem to other
interdependent systems from the safety and security point of views. Moreover
the methodologies and the tools will support the user to evaluate the
efficiency of systems emergency mechanisms, such as restoration and
reconfiguration procedures, and to optimize interdependent mechanisms in order
to enhance the availability and robustness of ICT embedded systems.

Proposal presents a concept of hierarchical control for complex dynamical
processes and suggests architecture of control system consisting of robust,
adaptive, and self-organizing levels. Intelligent features of the proposed
system are mostly concentrated at self-organizing level incorporated into
self-learning, self-configuring, self-optimizing, and decision making
algorithms. Case studies have been chosen from the area of magnetic and
kinetic
plasma control in tokamak-reactors as well as from the area of industrial
processes which is being searched at present. 

Présentation de la proposition:
FOCUS AREA: The HiCONT project is focused on designing and development of
scalar (Single-Input Single-Output: SISO) and multivariable (Multi-Inputs
Multi-Outputs: MIMO) control systems based on scalable control algorithms for
uncertain time-varying nonlinear complex dynamic processes. 
PROJECT NOVELTY: The major innovation of the proposal is the elaboration of a
new methodology for the design of hierarchical adaptive self-organizing
control
systems to be applied to complex production processes, such as: plasma energy
release, chemical and biological processes, casting in metallurgy, and so
forth. The methodology will cover three basic levels, namely: 
I. physical control composed of controlled process interacting with robust
controller through sensors and actuators; 
II. adaptive level that implements scalable adaptation algorithms and enables
the robust controller to satisfy a number of time-varying constraints; 
III. knowledge-based self-organizing level which executes a set of
self-learning, self-configuring, self-optimizing, and decision-making
algorithms allowing possible dynamic changes in the system architecture aimed
at optimal control and dynamic reconfiguration of the robust controller and
making it easier to satisfy process-critical constraints, such as respond to
the deadlines, saturations an so on.

We are searching for an industrial partner with R&D department or a pair:
industrial partner + developer for HiCONT consortium. 
- Must be solid European industrial enterprise 
- It should be better if a partner belongs to the energy section because the
consortium has already energy process to be controlled (plasma in tokamak) 
- Has interest to the HiCONT concept formulated in accordance with Objective
ICT-2009 3.5a 
- Should have R&D department or developer institution which knows control
problems of the particular industrial partner very well and has experience in
that field as well 
- Must formulate a control problem for industrial process to be solved by
HiCONT consortium 
- Should have potential and interest to make contribution in writing proposal
in time 
- Should have potential and interest in solving the project tasks to be
planned
in time 
- Should take part in project meetings 
- Must write reports during performance of the project in time

Industrial end-user for user needs analysis, testing, and implementation.
