Dans le cadre du programme CIP , nous avons une offre de partenariat de la
Bibliothèque d'Istanbul

Please find hereunder the interest of Istanbul Library, which is having
operations under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, for joining such a
consortium regarding Digital Libraries.

Please note that Istanbul Library is very willing to introduce the literary &
cultural works and books of the municipal libraries that reflect the cultural
heritage of Istanbul (Istanbul as a cultural capital of Rome, Byzantine, and
Ottoman Empires) to transfer them into Europeana and enable European citizens
to use them.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality takes place in an area of 5343 km² and
represents about 13 million citizens.

Main responsibilities of our municipality are briefly;

1. City Development, Environment, Mass Transportation and Investments,

2. Health, Municipal Police services and Fire Brigade, 

3. Socio-cultural and economical missions. 

2008 budget: $ 12 billion

Within the framework of ICT 2009 programme, we are looking forward to
participating in a consortium for Theme 2 (Digital Libraries)
In the theme 2, our aims are to introduce the literary& cultural works and
books of the municipal libraries that reflect the cultural heritage of
Istanbul
(Istanbul as a cultural capital of Rome, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires) to
transfer them into Europeana and enable European citizens to use them. Our
Directorate of Libraries and Museums has potentialities to assume this duty.

Šstanbul Library, which is under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has
many boks, magazines, atlas, newspapers, maps, handwritten literatures, etc.
Those languages are; Turkish, the Ottoman Turkish language, Arabic, Persian,
and Foreign Languages.
