Madame monsieur
dans le cadre de l'appel en cours du programme CIP TIC, nous avons reçu une
proposition de recherche de partenariat du grand centre de recherche slovène,
le Jožef Stefan Institute

qui souhaite participer aux thèmes
- 3 (ambient assisted living, tele-care and smart buildings
- 5.1(open objective for innovation).

Profile of the organization, CIP ICT PSP Inclusion

The Institute:
Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), founded in 1949 and employing almost 1,000
people, is the leading Slovenian institution for research in natural sciences
and technology. It complements
the role of the universities and bridges the gap between science and industry.
To facilitate the transfer of research results to industry and practical use,
the institute has co-founded the
Technology Park Ljubljana. The institute enjoys international recognition,
participating currently in over 300 international projects.

The Department:
The Department of Intelligent Systems (DIS) employs 27 people and conducts
research in several areas of artificial intelligence, as well as develops
innovative applications utilizing advanced technology. Our research areas are
machine learning and data mining, decision support, optimization methods,
heuristic search, intelligent agents, speech and language technologies. We are
particularly interested in the domains of ambient intelligence and
personalized
healthcare, specializing in monitoring and interpreting human behavior. We
also
have extensive software-engineering expertise, having developed many desktop,
server and mobile applications.

Main technologies ready for deployment and ready for support of CIP ICT PSP
projects:
- Recognition of unusual behavior that may indicate a problem with mental or
physical health, using dedicated wearable or ambient sensors, or smartphone
sensors;
- Estimation of activity level and human energy expenditure to promote
fitness,
using dedicated wearable or smartphone sensors;
- Recognition of suspicious behavior to increase security;
- Intelligent management of a smart home (particularly front door) with a
variety of features related to safety and comfort;
- virtual assistant communicating in natural language, which can power a
variety of user interfaces.

Most applications are deployed and usable on mobile platforms such as iOS and
Android.

We are flexible when incorporating new ideas and are able to adopt and adapt
existing technologies for other applications depending on the goals and
requirements for new projects.
