Scientific Digital Libraries

Sujet:
The DigiScience project aims at delivering intelligent digital libraries
services by developing advanced semantic-based search and retrieval
capabilities and userfriendly harvesting tools. The platform will support
scientific communities of practice by offering a unique multilingual point of
access to multi-format and multi-source digital objects. It will be
designed to
operate in multidisciplinary contexts, promoting collaborative research and
allowing to semantically interact with the researchers’ competences and
skills.

The DigiScience project objective is to create an intelligent environment for
making scientific content -like research data, publications and multimedia
items- accessible, interactive, usable and exploitable over time by means of
innovative access services. The Project aims at developing a scientific
multidisciplinary virtual library, giving a one-point access to high value
digital material produced by recognised research Institutions and Universities
all over Europe. The project will contribute to the technological and
organisational innovation in the research and scientific structures by
offering
advanced cooperative and sharing services. 

Expertises demandées:
They are looking for:
n       Kwowhow in data preservation technology, both "bit preservation" and
"logical preservation". 
n       Knowhow in multilingual - multilingual application of a technology in
general and text processing technology in particular (Design and
implementation
of an advanced multilingual harvesting module AND/OR Design and implementation
of query expansion and enrichment. Handling of morphology and
grammaticalisations)

The partners can be SME.

L’université espagnole UPM recherche des partenaires pour un:
Projet: STREP

Dans le défi: 2.2 Cognitive Systems, Interaction, Robotics
Nom provisoire du projet: Intelligent Surveillance with Interacting Systems
(ISIS)
Date de clôture: 08/04/2008

Sujet:
This project aims at the development of a surveillance system based on a team
of mobile robots and focuses on providing them with capacity of situation
awareness and taking autonomous decisions, both individually and as a
collective, coordinating themselves for optimal performances. In case of
emergency (e.g. intrusion, fire) the system shall evaluate the situation and
help human-driven decision-making and situational awareness by means of
information synthesis and presentation to the security personnel (in form,
e.g., of meaningful alerts and warnings). A multi-robot system, composed by
3-5
robots sufficiently intelligent and robust to operate in semi-structured and
partially known outdoor locations will be used as test bed for
experimentation.

n       PROFILE 1: Cognitive systems Knowledge representation, reasoning,
learning 
n       PROFILE 2: Perception Audio/video analysis, sensor fusion, objects
detection and classification
