From: Patrick SCHOULLERSubject: PCRDT N°7 / Thématique TIC/ Conférence : TIC pour l'innovation, la compétitivité et une vie meilleure / 26-27 avril / SOFIA Bulgarie Madame monsieur le gouvernement bulgare organise, avec le soutien de la commission européenne une conférence gratuite The Bulgarian State Agency for Information Technologies and Communications together with the Information Society and Media Directorate General (DG INFSO) of the European Commission (EC) and supported by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science is organising a Regional Conference on the theme "ICT Research and Technology Development for Innovation, Competitiveness and Better Life". This 2 day event will be held on 26-27 April in Sofia, Bulgaria. The opening keynote speeches will be given by Fabio Colasanti, Director General of DG INFSO and by high level Bulgarian government officials who will outline the policy in ICT research, technology development and innovation in the 2007-2013 timescale. The purpose of the conference is (a) to facilitate the participation of Bulgaria, Western Balkans and other neighboring countries, including the countries from the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Area, in the ICT Theme of the 7th Framework Programme of research and technological development and (b) to improve their collaboration. Participants from other countries interested in ICT/FP7 are also invited to attend. Networking sessions will be organised for discussion of project ideas and issues concerning the consortia formation. The event is free of charge. Light lunches and a social event in the evening of 27 April will be provided by the organisers.
